The biggest-ever in size, exhibitors and visitors. That was the message from the organisers of the world’s biggest trade show as Bauma 2019 came to a close in Munich last week.
Records tumbled throughout the week-long event with more than 620,000 visitors from over 200 countries pouring through the doors of the show site, spread across 614,000 sq. metres. Exhibitors came from 63 countries – another record – and 5,500 visitors arrived from China alone.
Some companies reported unprecedented sales; Wirtgen Group, for example, described the show as the most successful in its history while Andreas Böhm of Liebherr-International AG commented: “We took orders from all parts of the world and made a whole lot of new contacts.”
Organisers said sustainable and digital solutions were clear focal points among exhibitors. Digitalisation has become a ‘megatrend’ as communication interfaces that collect and analyse data becoming standard equipment. At the same time, machines and vehicles are becoming cleaner, quieter and more efficient. “Customers’ interest in electric drive systems has never been so high as it was this year,” said Frank Hiller at DEUTZ AG.
