Balfour Beatty gets ready

Balfour Beatty will take site possession next week for the £27.5m regeneration of Aberdeen’s Union Terrace Gardens.

The contractor anticipates six weeks of set-up, including erecting hoardings around the perimeter. First stage of construction work will involve foundation piling and adding a permanent safety barrier to Union Bridge.

During 2020 the programme will focus on strengthening the balustrades, renovating the arches and widening the pavement along Union Terrace.

A series of pavilions should be completed in Spring 2021 followed by lighting and landscaping ahead of the planned reopening of the gardens that summer.
