25th present for Hyundai

..

Hyundai Construction Equipment has landed a top award as it celebrates 25 years in Europe. It won the Samoter Technical Innovation Award in the Medium Wheeled Loader category for the new HL960A (below) that will take centre stage on the Hyundai booth at Samoter Fair in Italy next month.

The company made its European entry in Geel, Belgium in 1995 and has since developed a European headquarters at Tessenderlo in that country. Hyundai Heavy Industries was founded in 1972 as a shipbuilding company and in the following years other divisions were added with a construction equipment operation established in the mid-1980s.

In 1995 an assembly line went into operation in Belgium but four years later machine assembly was reduced and the company was transformed into a European distribution centre. Today, all machines arrive by sea from Ulsan in South Korea into a 33,000 m² stockyard at the port of Antwerp.

.Young Plant Sales had held the franchise in Scotland since 2006 and built the brand north of the border but relinquished its position in January last year. The equipment is now handled by Agritrac Exports, part of agricultural machinery supplier HRN Tractors.
