Access firm changes hands

A Lanarkshire platform business has been acquired as part of a rental company’s expansion into Scotland.

Quick Reach Powered Access Ltd, based in Manchester, has bought the assets of Wishaw firm Specialized Access Ltd. All employees have transferred to the new owner.

John Barton, director and co-founder of Quick Reach, said: “This acquisition enables us to expand into Scotland and further enhances our fleet mix, thanks to the addition of the latest tracked and truck-mounted booms. As part of Quick Reach, the Wishaw operation will expand from a niche products supplier to a provider of a comprehensive range of access platforms and telehandlers.

“We expect this move will generate some exciting new business opportunities within the existing Scottish customer base, as well as enable us to bring new customers on board.”

The deal sees Quick Reach add a fleet of tracked boom lifts from brands including Hinowa and Omme Lift, plus Isoli truck-mounted booms on 3.5t Nissan Cabstar chassis.

Quick Reach purchased the assets for an undisclosed sum from IAPS Group. The companies reached a preliminary agreement in December and finalised the deal this week.
